Dog walkers using the path through Long Wood

Stoke Park is lucky to have diverse and vibrant communities surrounding it. Bordered by Lockleaze, Cheswick Village and UWE to the west and north, with Snuff Mills, St Werburghs, Easton, and Ashley Down also very close by, the Park sees use from a range of Bristol residents and visitors.

We aim to work with our local communities and community groups – from attending local events and talking to local interest groups to supporting UWE students with volunteer hours.

We have showcased some of our local community organisations here. If you would like to be included on the Stoke Park Community Group website, please email stokeparkgroup@gmail.com

Really Wild Lockleaze

Really Wild Lockleaze is a community-led project transforming Lockleaze for nature. Part of Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust, Really Wild Lockleaze aims to show what an urban community can do to help nature, while at the same time enriching their own community.

You can get involved in regular volunteer sessions on Really Wild Wednesdays, which is an opportunity to meet people, learn new skills and get some time outdoors while working on a range of projects to create and maintain ponds, meadow and woodland across housing greens and public spaces across Lockleaze. You don’t need to be able to attend every week, and all training and equipment is provided.

The Vench – adventure playground, community centre and cafe

For over 45 years, the Vench has been inspiring imaginative play in a supportive and fun environment to help Lockleaze children and young people live happy and healthy lives.

In October 2025, the Corner Cafe opened its doors outside the Vench, to bring a warm and welcoming community space to the heart of the neighbourhood. Open Monday and Friday 9:30am-2:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:30am-3:00pm, the cafe serves hot drinks, light lunches and sweet treats, and is perfect for a stop off on a walk around Stoke Park.
